I think I'm having a much harder time with the K adjustment than dd. She loves it already, but I find it so hard to let her walk into the school, stay for 7 hours, and meet her back outside. I feel like I don't know anything that's going on inside besides little snippets from her unreliable memory. How am I going to learn about what she's doing?
15 replies [ Reply | Watch | Options ]My mother, who taught for 30 years, just told me that this is the beginning of learning to let go. As long as you like and trust the school, we have to come to terms that we will never learn all that goes on during the day. Also, no news is good news. We will hear if there is a problem and learn more at Open School/Meet the Teacher night.

I know what you mean. I just try to be thankful that dd is adjusting super well. She seems very excited about school. I also plan to get involved with the school.
[ Reply | Options ]It's so hard to get involved as a working parent. This week has been killer. 2 hour days, then this AM was a workshop for parents and there's a family party at 3:30. My dd was so upset that I wasn't coming to the family party, and I'm a bit bitter that the school is putting working families in this situation.
