us too, and now I wish we'd taken it. 14 kids vs the 25 we're dealing with now. I guess if we'd all taken the spots, they would have had 25 too. ah well.

that will change. and while there are some fabulous things about 11, there are some drawbacks, too. we're happy we picked the school we did, even if there are 23 dcs in the class.
[ Reply | Options ]i think he will. focus on the positives: a solid, proven program, high test scoes, tons of funds raised and a powerful, influential group of parents, no us vs. them mentality, good communication between staff and parents, no middle school housed in the same building. 11 is great, but 41 has a lot going for it.

Chess is required and there's also an afterschool program. And besides the list above, each kid takes an elective once a week of his/her choice (cooking, for ex.).
[ Reply | Options ]will they be graded for how well they play chess? seems a bit too much to me, what about artistic souls?
[ Reply | Options ]They also have art, music and dance. You are criticizing them for teaching chess during the school day? I find that so strange. My dc's preschool also taught chess during the school day and I thought it was fantastic.

they have a community sing where the entire grade gets together once a week and sings, and then they have two different music teachers, one comes in the classroom and I think its singing, the other one, they might go to and it might be insturments but I"m not sure. We are only in K so don't know all the ropes yet.
