How many weeks were you when you had first dc?

  - sorry for silly question...but it's my first baby: at what point did you realize you were having contractions? In retrospect had you been having them longer than you realized?

    - I didn't have a chance to have a contraction. I had an emergency-c due to preeclampsia.

    - I worried about this for a lot before having my first but really, when the contractions start, you know, they feel different from gas or cramps or anything else.

    - np: i was having heartburn throughout my ninth month. i ended up getting induced before any major contractions and it wasn't until i had dc#2 that i realized the heartburn had actually been contractions.

    - Had bad cramps that didn't go away but I didn't believe I was in labor until they got really bad

  - Woke up with period-like cramps that seemed to be happening every 10-15 min and started writing down the times that I felt them. After 2 hours worth of writing down times and the time in between cramps getting a little shorter, I was convinced it was the real thing. After a few hours the mucus plug came out.
